Statement of Faith

African Christian College has a rich heritage within the Restoration Movement and the Church of Christ and continues to be affiliated with the Churches of Christ in Swaziland and around the world.

The following statement of faith articulates our beliefs as a Christian institution and was prepared by the Administration, Faculty and Board of ACC and approved by the Board of Trustees in January 2011.

WE BELIEVE in one true God, the all-powerful Creator who brought all things, seen and unseen, into existence according to His will. God’s triune nature consists of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit who are in perfect unity and harmony with one another.  Jesus Christ is the incarnation of God through the virgin birth. He came to earth to reveal the nature of God, to proclaim the truth and to effect salvation.

WE BELIEVE God is loving and merciful. He gave man dominion over all creatures and over the earth, as well as the responsibility to preserve it. He created man in His image and gave him free will. In using his free will, man chose badly and sinned which separated him from God. God demonstrated His love for us by sending His unique Son, Jesus to earth. He shed his blood on the cross for the sins of the world. Salvation is only in Him by grace through faith. After Christ was crucified, we believe that He was buried and raised on the third day by divine power. After appearing to many, Christ ascended to heaven where He serves as our advocate and only mediator.

WE BELIEVE the Holy Spirit inspired Bible authors to perfectly communicate God’s will to us. When Jesus died on the cross, a new covenant came into effect and as a result previous covenants between God and man are superseded. Through Scripture we know saving faith expresses itself when a person turns away from sin, confesses Jesus as Lord, and is baptized by immersion for the forgiveness of sins. This manifests one’s willingness to die, be buried and be raised in the likeness of Christ.

WE BELIEVE the Holy Spirit dwells within Christians, produces fruit and enables the believer to be more like Christ.

WE BELIEVE the church is the body of Christ and that Christ is head of His church. There is one universal church, the spiritual body of the saved. Individuals within the church each prayerfully pursue a life that reflects God’s love for the world.  It is the duty of the church to make disciples of all nations.

WE BELIEVE that Jesus Christ will come again at the end of time. We believe there will be a final judgment of the living and the resurrected dead, culminating in eternal reward for those in Christ.
