A volunteer Board of Trustees from throughout the world govern African Christian College. The trustees set board policies and vision that guide the college, volunteer their time and expertise, and donate and fund raise for the future of the college. The board is actively engaged in its role and meets at least twice each year together.
Ira Hill, Chairman
Ira Hill, PhD, has vast experience in Africa and as a trustee in Christian higher education. With 23 years of experience on the Abilene Christian University Board, he served for 15 years as the Chair of Academic Affairs. Ira is an active member of the Westover Hills Church of Christ in Austin, Texas.
Ira and his wife, June, live one semester each year on campus in Swaziland as self-funded staff and visiting lecturers.
John Arney
John is an active member of the Church of Christ in Franklin, Tennessee and owner of an industrial metal fabrication business. He serves on a number of other boards including the African Christian Schools Foundation (Nashville, TN) which operates schools in Nigeria, Ghana and Namibia.
Larry Carter, President
Larry Carter, MA, sold a successful business in northwest Tennessee to serve full-time at African Christian College in 2004. Larry and his wife Susan are self-funded missionaries at the college and bring business and educational experience. Much of ACC’s growth in have occurred since the Carters arrival.
Chris Chetsanga
Chris Chetsanga, PhD, is an internationally recognized biochemist and United Nations consultant who has spent many years in academia. In addition to teaching, Chris has served as department chair, Dean of Sciences and Pro-Vice Chancellor (Provost) at the Unversity of Zimbabwe.
He serves as an elder in the Avondale Church of Christ in Harare, Zimbabwe, and received the Outstanding Christian Service Award from his alma mater, Pepperdine University (Malibu, California).
Larry Harms
Larry has visited our campus in Swaziland several times and is a managing engineer with Conoco-Phillips. He also serves as a board member of a benevolent non-profit in Durban, South Africa serving abandoned infants, widows and orphans. Larry is an elder of the West Houston Church of Christ in Houston, Texas.
Henry Huffard
Henry Huffard, MA, and his family were long-term African missionary-educators in Nigeria. After serving as the President of the African Christian Schools Foundation (Nashville, TN), Henry now works as Executive Producer of Africa Programming for World Christian Broadcasting.
He is an elder of the Hillsboro Church of Christ in Nashville, Tennessee and has spent a semester teaching at ACC.
Kerry Lowery
Kerry is CEO of Anesthesia Associates of New Mexico with deep experience as in business, financial and operations management. Kerry is an active member and Bible teacher at the Montgomery Blvd. Church of Christ in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Jenene Marnach, Recording Secretary
Jenene and her husband Jim spend about 9 months per year as self-funded missionaries on campus in Swaziland. Jenene serves as an account secretary, working with student wives, and maintaining campus grounds and buildings. As a former hazelnut farmer in Oregon, Jim provides guidance in the operation of ACC’s Tree of Life orchard and oversees construction on campus.
For many years, Jenene also served on the board of Cascade College, a Christian college in Oregon.
Don Osborn
Don has made numerous working visits to ACC and has a long history of involvement with the college. He is a member of the Netherwood Church of Christ in Albuquerque, New Mexico which provides financial support to one of ACC’s faculty members.
Joe Page
Joe has made numerous working visits to Swaziland and has a long history of involvement with ACC. He operates several small businesses in the United States which brings experience in budgeting and operations. Joe is an elder at the Montgomery Blvd. Church of Christ in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Mark Prowell
Mark has also made several working visits to ACC in Swaziland. As CEO of Fleetwood Trucking, he is an experienced business operator. Mark serves as an elder of the Central Church of Christ in Lufkin, Texas.
David Stewart
David is owner of Stewart Brothers Drilling in Grant, New Mexico and has applied his knowledge and skill in well drilling in several African countries. He has made several working visits to Swaziland and also serves on the board of Lubbock Christian University in Lubbock, Texas.
Lee Thompson, Vice Chairman
Since retiring from medical practice, Lee Thompson, D.O., serves ACC by processing donations and correspondence through our United States address. He has visited campus numerous times and is a long-time supporter of the college. Lee is an elder at the Montgomery Blvd Church of Christ in Albuquerque, New Mexico.

Phil Cheves, Secretary
Phil handles all the legal matters for ACC and is an attorney practicing in New Mexico. He is a member of the Alumni Board of Abilene Christian University (Abilene, Texas) and a deacon at the Montgomery Blvd Church of Christ in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
Joy Lea Brazell, Founding Chairman
For over 17 years, J.L. served as the chief fund raiser and cheerleader for ACC. He led the transition and re-organization to a Board of Trustees and served as its founding chairman. J.L. and his wife Lorene have made numerous trips to Swaziland and continue to serve as advisors and supporters of the college. He serves as an elder of the Montgomery Blvd Church of Christ in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
